Leaving me is a conflict resolution,
I can't remember nothing.
I can hear your voice oozing out of the speakers in my room.
Sleeping in silence,
Sleeping alone,
I relied on you for conversation and warmth.
"That's no way to live," Someone said.
Footsteps in snow,
All that's left of your cold, wet form.
Comfort is pestilence,
I can't regress that quickly.
Eyes shine - a malignant sea,
I'm always running out of air to breathe.
I won't breathe deep,
When you clam up and you weep.
I won't breathe deep,
When karma tries to bury me.
I know I don't have answers,
I know you need to find them,
I know I'm not the place that you look when you're lost and confused.
When you come in here and you talk about people, is it everybody here or everyone on the street below too? I can't remember people or places, but I remember you. I can see the university from the window seat in my east-side suite. Everyone who comes in this room covers their face in the name of safety.
Cars and damp crows cover my scars with halves of threads of hand-me-down clothes. You notice and cry a little closer while I'm subtly wasting time and pacing. Covering my skin with false images of eyes makes me think I'm chasing nothing. I'm slowly seeing that everyday I cover my face in the name of safety.
